Benefit From Military Spouse Employment Resources
On Military Spouse Appreciation Day — May 10, 2019 — we honor the contributions and sacrifices military spouses make every day. We recognize that your sacrifices, frequent moves and intermittent single parenting can make pursuing a career more challenging. Fortunately, the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO, and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, or MSEP, offer free services to eligible military spouses all year long. You can take advantage of SECO and MSEP resources throughout your entire employment journey from career training to job placement.
The Department of Defense created SECO as a service to military spouses worldwide. The SECO program has four major support components: Career Exploration, Education, Training and Licensing, Employment Readiness and Career Connections. These four components help you explore your career interests, learn about education and scholarship options such as My Career Advancement Account, or MyCAA, prepare to join or re-enter the workforce and find a career network. You can also take advantage of free career coaching services to explore your interests, update your resume and jump-start your career.
The Department of Defense created MSEP, a targeted recruitment and employment solution, to connect military spouses and companies. You can search the large MSEP Job Search database by industry, location and additional filters. There is also a database for employers to search for well-qualified military spouses like you.
Using the employment resources that SECO and MSEP offer will help you achieve your career goals. Follow the Department of Defense Office of Financial Readiness on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more tips. Look for more on YouTube and the FINRED blog.
